A NOTE FROM JANET

One small light,
one thoughtful card.

Hello crafty friends,

You don’t need a big platform or a perfectly planned day to share God’s love. Sometimes, a small act of kindness is the light someone needs.

This week, try a paper-candle encouragement card. On a folded 4¼ × 5½-inch card base, add a 4 × 5¼-inch cream panel. Cut three patterned-paper strips, each ½ inch wide, in heights of 2, 2½, and 1¾ inches. Arrange them like candles, leaving space above each for a small flame cut from yellow paper.

Draw a tiny wick with a pen, then glue down the candles and flames. Add “You brighten my day” on a 3 × ½-inch cardstock strip below them. No patterned paper? Decorate plain strips with dots or lines.

Matthew 5:16 reminds us to let our light shine so others can see our good works and give glory to our Father. We can share that light through patient words, a thoughtful note, or a card made with care.

If you have a little creative time this week, make one for someone whose kindness has encouraged you. Inside, tell them one way they’ve brightened your life. I’d love to hear what you create!

Stay crafty & connected,

Janet

CUT & SCORE

Card base 8½ × 5½ cardstock.

Three candles Each ½ wide.
Heights: 2, 2½, and 1¾.
Three flames About ⅜ × ⅝ each.
Hand-cut teardrops from yellow paper.
Sentiment strip 3 × ½ cardstock.

PUT IT TOGETHER

  1. Score and fold the card base. Glue the cream panel centered on the card front.
  2. Place all candle bottoms 1½ above the card’s bottom edge. Position the candle left edges at 1, 1⅞, and 2¾ from the card’s left edge.
  3. Apply glue to the backs of the candles and flames. Leave a tiny gap between each candle and flame, then draw a wick in the gap.
  4. Glue the sentiment strip centered, with its bottom edge ⅝ above the card’s bottom.
